Last weekend we finally pulled the trigger. For years, literally years, we’ve had paint spots on our wall from trying different shades and finishes, and this past weekend we finally decided to paint the walls in our place. It was a much bigger project than I had anticipated. We have a lot of dry wall, and because we live in a brick and timber loft with exposed duct work and pipes, we ended up spending lots of time “cutting in–a term I now know means painting carefully with a brush at the edges of a wall or around anything like a pipe or fixture–and taping. Plus, we had to get our calculators out to make sure we did the job right. My husband came up with the stellar idea of painting a gradient from white to gray that would stretch from our living room to our entryway, 12 total walls, with each wall being just slightly darker than the last. The finished product looks fantastic and has made such a difference for our place, but man was it tiring! My legs and hands were super sore from the work, but a good sore that inspired me to get back into more intense kinds of working out. I’ve missed the soreness you feel from lunges or planks, and this was a good reminder.
Anyway, this was the outfit I threw on last Saturday morning after we’d finalized our list of supplies and were ready to hit Home Depot. Outfits like these really are what I would call my go-to summer look: comfy skirt, tight tank, sandals and a cute bag. This skirt is an old favorite from last summer. With its stretchy waistline it’s super comfortable and the tassels at the hem keep it from looking too casual. I spied this same skirt in white at my local Loft Outlet a few weeks ago, so if you like it I’d recommend keeping your eyes open. And if you like this color, the skirt I’ve linked to above and below from Talbots is so similar it might be the same pattern.
I’m seriously happy with these Vionic wedges. Usually wearing heels of any kind while erranding is just a bad idea for me–heels always hurt my feet and slow me down–but these are as walkable and comfy as flat sandals. I can’t wait for them to realease their fall line. I expect a major purchase from them is in my near future.
I hope you’re having a great weekend!
