I’ve always been big on buying things used or on consignment. There’s something about finding a really great item after digging through the racks of a consignment shop that feels really fulfilling. Plus, I hate paying full price. That’s why I was happy when Thred Up, an online consignment shop, contacted me and asked if I’d give them a try. They provided me with a small discount on my first purchase. I chose this ostrich leather Morning After bag from Rebecca Minkoff. I’ve always coveted her Morning After Bags and I’ve also been searching for an ostrich leather bag for some time now, so it seemed like the right purchase to make. Plus, this bright orange color is totally different from the slough of neutral and pink bags I already own, so I thought it would be a nice addition to my collection.

The bag was about 1/3rd of it’s original price on Thred Up and looked to be in good condition. It arrived quickly and safely and was in even better condition than I expected. In fact, it looks hardly used. It also had a tag certifying its authenticity on it, which was nice to see. I’m very pleased with it overall, and I’ve been regularly checking Thred Up’s new arrivals since I purchased it just in case any other fabulous bags pop up. If you follow this referral link, you’ll get a free $10 with a purchase.

I’ve been wearing my hair in a low chignon a lot lately–mostly due to the weather. It’s pretty pointless to heat style my hair when it’s rainy and wet out. The steps to make this chignon are pretty simple. I tease the hair at my crown just a little bit, then pull my hair back into a low pony and secure it with a hair tie. Next I twist up my hair and spiral it around the base of the ponytail. To hold it in place, I use three spin pins. It might take fewer if you have shorter hair than I do, but to really cement it in place, three are required for my hair. If I’ve got extra time in the morning, sometimes I’ll fire up my curling iron and curl a front piece of hair as I’ve done here.

In general, I’m not that into flowers, which seems to set me apart from the majority of fashion bloggers. My Instagram feed is contantly full of photos of bouquets in handbags and women shopping at florists. I don’t know–I get that flowers are pretty, but they just don’t do much for me. But having said that, there are a few types of flowers I do really like. One of them is daffodils. I think that’s because seeing a daffodil in full bloom really makes me feel like winter is over. My mom planted rows of daffodil bulbs around our house back when I was young, and every spring I loved seeing them pop through the soil, knowing that winter was on its way out.

Amazingly enough, I think this is the first time I’ve worn my black Tory Burch Reva flats on the blog. I’ve owned them for about a year now, but given that they’re usually stashed in my bureau at work, they don’t usually show up in my blog photos.

If you’re on the fence about purchasing a pair of these flats, let me tell you: they’re worth it. They’re obviously high quality, quite comfortable, and they look so much more polished and put together than regular old flats–though having said that, I can see in this photo that I need to get mine polished up.

If you decide to purchase a pair, I’d say stick with the Reva flats like the ones I’m wearing here rather than the elastic band flats. I own the elastics in nude, and they are actually really hard to break in. The toe area is smaller and the elastic band actually pulls the back of the shoe up against my heel in a way that caused some serious blistering until I’d worn them a lot. These black Reva flats caused me no such discomfort.

When wearing a blouse, I always ascribe to the J.Crew cuffing method, which I’m wearing here. This pin has easy-to-follow instructions on how it’s done.

  2. I love the print mixing of the tops! It looks so good. I’m also in love with that bag. Also, you have some good luck at Goodwill – I can’t believe you found the top and jeans there.

  3. Wow you have great luck at the thrift store! I can never find anything good in the tops section. Sometimes, I find stuff in the skirt section, or the outerwear, but hardly ever tops. Great outfit, and good to know about those Tory Burch flats.

    • Thanks, Deasy! Thrifting definitely takes work, and I count myself lucky that my Goodwill tends to have really great stuff. I’d recommend looking for tops in higher end thrift stores, like nice consignment stores and you might have better luck.
