Spring is finally peeking through the Chicago winter gloom, and I couldn’t be more excited. The weekend before last was unusually warm, and my husband and I decided to enjoy the nice weather by walking downtown from our West Loop loft and doing some shopping. We hit our favorite stores, including Nordstrom Rack, where I found this chambray dress from Max Studio for over 50% off. I also found these nude pumps, which I’ll be featuring in an outfit later this week.

After our Nordstrom Rack success, we intended to grab lunch at the Macy’s foodcourt (at Frontera Fresco) but after finding out it had just closed, we headed over to Miss Ricky’s instead. We got there just in time for happy hour, so we split a reuben and salad between the two of us and washed it down with several discounted beers.
We continued on to the Nordstrom Mall on Michigan avenue, where I discovered that Porshe’s sunglasses look pretty darn good on me, and my husband finally found the perfect gray sport coat. We celebrated by having a few drinks at the Nordstrom bar, which was a surprisingly good time. We even met a few interesting characters while there. After that, things were starting to close, so we hit the Nike store as our last destination. I finally replaced my sneakers with a pair of new Lunar Tempos. All in all, it was a great day of shopping successes.

The weather was beautiful again this past weekend–so beautiful that I was able to wear this outfit outside without tights or a jacket. All this warm weather has me itching for spring to truly arrive.

I think a shirt dress like this is such a staple piece. You can dress it up or down. When it comes to dresses like this, I actually prefer “mock” shirt dresses where the buttons end around the waistline. This helps to elimate inapporpriate glimpses through the button area in the underwear/upper leg region. In fact, I actually sew all of my full-button shirt dresses closed for exactly this reason.
In addition to this mock shirt dress I’m wearing, I also really love this bright red version, this gingham option, and this black and white plaid shirt dress.

A bright lip is a great way to brighten up your look for spring. I’m wearing Burt’s Bees lip crayon in Hawaiian Smolder. I really like their lip crayons as a way to get a pop of color without things looking overly lipsticky and too made up. I’ve also got my eye on the Carolina Coast shade, which is even brighter.

I love that dress and bag! So cute!! And it is so perfect for Spring!

Absolutely love that dress! I love how subtle the dots are but what a fun twist they add to a classic piece!
Aren’t you just loving the warm weather? Honestly, spring can’t come fast enough when we don’t have to worry about a snow storm following a warm day!

Thanks so much, Caitlin! The dot print is what really drew me to this dress. And yes, I agree, I can’t wait for true spring to come–I’m just waiting for the next blizzard to hit right now!
Those dots!! Adorable.
Thanks, Sheela! The dots are one of my favorite details of the dress!
I’m not the one to go for a piece like this, but this dress is pretty darn cute. And sophisticated. If that even is possible.

I have yet to find the perfect denim shirt-dress and it looks like you have. Is it polka dotted too? How cool? Also those pretty pumps look denim? A fabulous outfit for a great day of eating, drinking and shopping like you had, Joules. =)

Thanks, Ada! It was a great day! The pumps aren’t denim but they are denim hued–one of the things I like about them. They’re not quite navy so they keep things interesting.
Heading to your link up now!
This outift was made for you!!
