I wore this outfit a few weeks ago for Friday night out with my best friend. I love unwinding after a long work week with a few cocktails downtown and a nice dinner. On this occasion, we did a bit of shopping on Michigan Avenue after work, then hit a few restaurants in the River North area–important note: Blue Agave Tequila Bar has a solid skinny margarita–and then hopped a Lyft over to Greektown. Our mainstay is Greek Islands, but this night I was determined to only go to places I’d never been before, so we hit Athena. I highly recommend eating there in the summer, as they have a retractable roof and a beautiful indoor waterfall that’s really quite pretty. The food was great too–they have wonderful grilled dishes.
I like outfits that can easily transition from work to cocktail hour. This skirt is just long enough to feel comfortable at work but just short and flared enough to feel flirty for a night out. I found it at Loft last summer and last featured it here.
I’m a big fan of Target’s Favorite Tank Tops. They’re super cheap–under $10–but surprisingly durable and not too see-through. They pair excellently with flared skirts and when they start to wear out they transition easily into workout tops. I own this particular tank top in pink, white, and black and I’m considering going back for more shades.
Why is it that Longchamp’s Le Pliage has fallen out of the lime light? This is why I hate handbag trends–perfectly good handbags fall out of style and everyone in the fashion world turns their nose up at them. I, for one, love this bag and will continue to use it. My favorite thing about it is that it’s simply so light. I always have to carry my laptop home with me, which is heavy enough on its own. I like that this bag is slim and light and carrying my laptop around in it for happy hour isn’t too much of a drag. Plus it’s got a wonderful simple-chic vibe, don’t you think? And it’s super durable compared to many of the other bags I’ve owned.
I like the Le Pliage. It’s definitely still in style in my book. And I’ll step off my soap box now.
Charming Charlie recently sent me this set of bracelets, and I quite like them. They’re nice and dainty, don’t you think? I’ve been enjoying mixing metals a bit lately, so I’ve been wearing these two together.
