I’ll be honest–most of the time the term “date night” is more often associated with my husband and I staying in, making dinner in our sweats, and playing video games than it is going out to see and be seen. That said, we do like to smarten up and take ourselves out on occasion, and when we do I like to have an outfit ready. When I spied this dress at my local Loft Outlet several weeks ago I knew it would be perfect for such an occasion. Dresses like these are delightfully versatile–wear them with flats and a blazer for work then dress them up with heels and cute clutch for a night out.
When it comes to date night, I often think that going minimal with makeup and jewelry choices is a good plan. I’ve surveyed my male friends on this topic several times, and they all seem to agree that they like makeup that looks natural–so think a soft or neutral lip rather than bold red–and I personally think that dainty jewelry is a little sexier than big chunky baubles.
Personally, I like to accessorize with items that express my personality more than whatever handbag or jewelry trend is in vogue at that exact moment. That’s one of the reasons I love this Kate Spade clutch so much–I have an affinity for cute, playful things and I think this highlights that. As a general rule, Kate Spade is a great retailer for unique, personalized items. Their current offerings in this vein include this cute cactus clutch, this bow wallet, this cupcake wallet, and this pinata wallet.
